Tourism Northern Ireland welcomed more than 30 tour operator members of UKinbound as part of a Discover Northern Ireland workshop earlier this month.
Taking place at Galgorm Resort and Spa and various locations across Northern Ireland, the 2016 Discover Workshop in Northern Ireland was the first time the event has been held outside Great Britain.
In partnership with Tourism Ireland, the workshop allows the tour operators to hold face-to-face meetings with local suppliers and develop business relationships with local companies.
The event also featured presentations from Tourism NI, Tourism Ireland, UKinbound and host partners.
John McGrillen, chief executive of Tourism NI, said: “The UKinbound Discover Workshop is a great opportunity to inform and grow the knowledge of the UK’s largest tour operators around the unique and engaging tourism products and services on offer to international visitors in Northern Ireland.
“The event in turn provides a platform for our local businesses to develop key industry connections, promote individual products and sell Northern Ireland as a destination.”
Among the local business represented were Titanic Belfast, Ramada Encore, The Merchant Hotel, Belleek Pottery, Galgorm Resort and Spa, Hastings Hotels, Lough Erne Resort, Bushmills Inn and CitySightseeing Belfast.
Deirdre Wells, chief executive at UKinbound, added: “From the sumptuous accommodation at the Galgorm Resort and Spa, to the rugged coastline of north Antrim and the historic surroundings at Hillsborough as well as the contemporary Titanic Museum, our tour operators will experience the wealth of the Northern Irish tourism offer.”
Tour operator fam trips included visits to the Causeway Coast and Glens, Titanic Belfast, HMS Caroline and Hillsborough Castle.
