Groups can boldly go to Blackpool attraction

Star Trek fans can see new exhibits this summer at Star Trek: The Exhibition, on Blackpool’s central promenade.

Thanks to the generosity of private collector Martin Netter from Germany – described as the “world’s biggest Star Trek fan” – new exhibits will be on display in the UK for the first time this year, alongside new augmented reality features.

Interest in the Star Trek franchise is likely to be reignited this summer with the start of a new TV series called Star Trek: Discovery.

Group visitors to the attraction can take control of the USS Enterprise from the captain’s chair (pictured) and be ‘beamed up’ from the Transporter Room via an augmented reality app.

The attraction features more than 100 original props, costumes, photos and set pieces.

Primary and secondary school groups can also take advantage of an education pack, which ties a visit into important themes about technology and Star Trek’s instrumental role in breaking down gender and race barriers.
