A new production of Ira Levin’s classic thriller Deathtrap will embark on a 12-week national tour for the first time in 20 years this autumn.
Deathtrap will open at the Theatre Royal Brighton on September 12.
The production will star Paul Bradley (Holby City, EastEnders) in the role of Sidney Bruhl and Jessie Wallace (EastEnders) as Myra Bruhl.
The play tells the story of Sidney Bruhl, a once- successful writer of stage thrillers, in the grip of chronic writer’s block.
A young playwright sends Bruhl one of only two copies of his brilliant new whodunit, Deathtrap.
If Bruhl can kill the newcomer and pass the play off as his own, he could once again be the toast of Broadway.
Deathtrap holds the record as the longest running thriller in Broadway history and was a hit film starring Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve.
After Brighton, the tour will visit Aylesbury, Southend, Guildford, Cardiff, Colchester, Birmingham and finally Richmond in November.
