Rachel McQueen, Marketing Cheshire’s tourism director, will deliver the opening address at the Showcase Weekend being held by the Association of Group Travel Organisers (September 15-17).
McQueen (pictured) worked at Marketing Manchester for almost a decade, then after two years working for a specialist branding agency, she returned to the world of destination marketing, joining Marketing Cheshire in April 2017.
The showcase will take place at the QHotel Park Royal, Warrington, and brings together group organiser and associate members from across the UK for a programme of business and social sessions.
It will feature a panel discussion about experiential group travel, moderated by TravelGBI editor, George Clode.
The panel will comprise James Silvester, a group travel organiser and chairman of Agto’s Kent branch, and Alex Jacobs, managing director of tour operator Northern Secrets. Details of a third panellist are to be confirmed.
Delegates will also be able to attend familiarisation trips arranged by Marketing Cheshire to attractions including Tatton Park, Port Sunlight and Chester Cathedral.
Other elements of the Showcase programme include networking sessions and a dinner with entertainment arranged by headline sponsor, made tourism marketing.
Mike Bugsgang, Agto chief executive, said: “We are delighted that Rachel, George and the panellists have agreed to speak at the Showcase, as their presentations will provide a valuable insight to members on new trends in group travel.”
