The award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King And I will transfer to the London Palladium this summer (June 21-September 8).
The King And I won four Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical during its 16-month run at New York’s Lincoln Center Theater, which was followed by a record-breaking sold-out US tour.
The romantic musical will star the two original Lincoln Center Theater lead actors: Kelli O’Hara, who will reprise her Tony Award-winning role of Anna Leonowens, together with Tony nominee – for his role on The King and I – Ken Watanabe, as The King of Siam.
Ruthie Ann Miles will reprise her Tony Award-winning role of Lady Thiang.
They will all be making their West End debuts, following their performances on Broadway.
The show includes classics such as Getting To Know You, Hello Young Lovers, Shall We Dance, I Have Dreamed, and Something Wonderful.
Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional relationship between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher, who tutors his many wives and children.
