Graham Balmforth – who retired from Super Break in January – will return to the industry as a quiz compere at Tipto’s new educational SuperShows.
Known for his entertaining performances at industry events, Balmforth was Super Break national sales manager and retired after 23 years at the short breaks operator.
He was also previously chairman of Tipto – the Truly Independent Professional Travel Organisation – which is a membership group of 24 tour operators supporting UK travel agents with training, marketing support, offers, incentives, competitions and events.
Balmforth will be quiz master at the SuperShows, which will see up to seven agents compete for prizes.
Agents will be chosen at random, via a draw of completed exhibition quiz sheets, to go head-to-head in an exclusive supplier-led quiz show.
Each SuperShow offers agents the chance to win a £1,000 holiday voucher to spend with any Tipto supplier member; the opportunity to join a supplier fam trip; shopping vouchers worth up to £100; other supplier gifts such as free hotel says or gift vouchers; and Tipto goodie bags.
Balmforth said: “I’m very excited to be supporting Tipto again; it’s a fantastic association and one that frontline industry staff really value as an educational tool.
“It’s an honour to be stepping into the spotlight to host the revamped SuperShow entertainment – we’re aiming to tap into that competitive streak by putting agents in the question firing line and there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs.”
Jane Atkins, Tipto chairman, added: “He’s an industry legend and we have no doubt his on-stage presence will play well to our agents, keeping the atmosphere fun and interactive while also educational.”
Registration is open for 2018’s four confirmed SuperShow events in Southampton (March 27), Birmingham (May 22), Manchester (June 19) and Darlington (June 20).
All events are free to attend and offer the opportunity to meet all 24 member suppliers and guest exhibitors.
