Voting has begun for the 2018 Silver Travel Awards, which will recognise the travel companies and destinations that best serve the over-50s market.
Classic FM presenter John Suchet will present the winners with their awards at a ceremony in the National Portrait Gallery, London, on July 9.
Debbie Marshall, managing director of Silver Travel Advisor, said: “The over-50s are key drivers of the UK travel industry, from cruises to city breaks, from rail holidays to e-biking, from safaris to self-drives.
“Life expectancy is rising, and the over-50s have a passion for new experiences and discoveries.
“These awards give mature travellers the opportunity to recognise and reward the companies which are responding best to their ever-expanding travel horizons, meeting their needs and delivering their holiday dreams.
“The most successful companies are those that understand that there is not one homogenous mass of ‘older people’ and that the over-50s market is made up of very different groups, many of whom who are living full lives with as many travel ambitions as younger people, and with the time and resources to make them happen.”
Now in their fourth year, the awards are supported by headline sponsor Saga Holidays, gold sponsor Wendy Wu Tours, and with The Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday supporting the event as consumer media sponsors.
TravelGBI’s sister title Travel Weekly is again the Travel Trade Media sponsor for the event.
Further sponsors include Avis (silver) and Solos and Shearings (bronze).
