Blackpool Pleasure Beach will open its £16.25 million rollercoaster, Icon, on May 25.
Work began on the major attraction in December 2016, and it will be the UK’s first ever ‘double-launch rollercoaster’.
Riders will take a two-and-a-half-minute journey, during which they will feel the same acceleration as a Formula 1 driver, twisting and turning at speeds of up to 55 miles per hour.
The carriages swoop and rise through tunnels, and interact 15 times – at high speeds – with five other rides.
A second boost of speed will propel riders above 88 feet, with drops of up to 82 feet.
Amanda Thompson, Blackpool Pleasure Beach managing director, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed with calls and emails from people all over the world wanting to know when Icon will open to the public.
“We can’t wait to invite those who dare to ride to Blackpool to experience this truly incredible ride. Icon promises to set hearts racing.”
Nick Thompson, deputy managing director, added: “We couldn’t be more pleased to see and experience it here in the UK and to showcase another world first at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.”
Blackpool Pleasure Beach wristbands include entry to Icon and the resort is now open daily for the 2018 season.
