Salisbury invites travel trade to showcase event

VisitWiltshire and Steve Reed Tourism are inviting tour planners from across the UK to a free ‘VIP Spotlight on Salisbury’ tourism showcase event on May 21.

The city has seen a drop in visitors following the poison attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, in March.

The government has allocated £2.5 million to support the recovery of businesses in Salisbury, including £200,000 to boost tourism.

The showcase will start at 10am in the Cathedral Close in Salisbury, and include a visit to Salisbury Cathedral (pictured), which is home to a copy of Magna Carta.

There will also be an opportunity to meet a VIP before lunch.

The afternoon will include a visit to Mompesson House and Gardens; Arundells, the home of former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath; and other Salisbury attractions.

The event is complimentary but subject to availability and eligibility.

Tour planners wishing to attend should email Steve Reed at Steve Reed Tourism on steve@stevereedtourism.co.uk.
