Oxford attractions unite to woo more groups

The Bodleian Libraries in Oxford has teamed with other heritage attractions to host a trade showcase, with the aim of boosting group bookings (November 12).

Arranged by Steve Reed Tourism Ltd, the trip will also include overnight accommodation on November 11 for some tour operators at Hawkwell House Hotel in Iffley near Oxford.

The Oxford Group Showcase will begin in the Old School Quad at the Bodleian Libraries where the guests will be introduced to the top attractions in Oxford.

City Sightseeing Oxford will provide transport for the group, including a tour of the Oxford sights.

The buyers will have a tour of the Bodleian Libraries and have a bird’s eye view of the famous Oxford spires from the top of the Sheldonian Theatre, next door to the Bodleian.

They will also visit the Museum of the History of Science which has a collection of early scientific instruments in the world’s oldest surviving purpose-built museum building.

The showcase ends with a trip to Oxford Castle and Prison, to explore its 1,000-year history.

Kate del Nevo, venue hire and marketing manager for the Bodleian Libraries, said: “We’re very glad to be working with our excellent tourism partners in and around Oxford to showcase the great attractions. It’s super that we have the Hawkwell House Hotel, the Sheldonian Theatre, the Museum of the History of Science and the Oxford Castle and Prison all lined up.

“And thanks too to City Sightseeing Oxford for their involvement and for being a wonderful promoter of tourism around Oxford.”
