London sightseeing bus operators join forces

The Original Tour and London City Tour have unveiled a partnership in London enabling customers to travel on each other’s hop-on, hop-off services.

Jane Lewis, The Original Tour managing director, said the deal means that London customers now have seven individual routes to choose from and more than 100 stops around London’s top sights and attractions.

Terry Gabriel, London City Tour managing director, added: “This innovative partnership will see a new market leader in London, whilst still offering the best value for money to visitors.

“The decades of experience between our two companies will ensure the continued high standards of our tours and new opportunities to grow for the benefit of staff and customers.”

The Original Tour is a subsidiary of the public transport company RATP Group and has six routes in London, with 65 hop-on hop-off stops.

London City Tour is part of the family-owned company Grupo Julia, and offers two routes with 35 hop-on hop-off stops.

• Open-top sightseeing tour operator Big Bus Tours has launched its Dublin operation, the 20th city in its global portfolio.

The Dublin launch follows the signing of the agreement between Big Bus Tours and the Dualway Group to acquire the company’s hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour operated by Irish City Tours.

Alex Payne, Big Bus Tours chief executive, said: “Dublin is a world-class tourism destination that is seeing strong growth in visitor numbers year-on-year.  It complements the Big Bus portfolio perfectly.”
