War Horse puppeteers bring the circus to town

This Christmas will see the European premiere of Circus 1903 at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall (December 19-January 5).

Featuring the award-winning puppeteers responsible for War Horse, the family show will arrive in London fresh from the Paris Theatre in Las Vegas.

This year marks 250 years since the world’s first 42-feet circus ring was laid down in London by Philip Astley, dubbed the ‘father of modern circus’.

Circus 1903 includes larger-than-life puppet elephants alongside a huge cast of circus acts – from acrobats and contortionists to trapeze performers – to celebrate ‘the golden age of circus’.
