Grand UK Holidays helps agents compete with online brands

Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays has launched a self-drive brand called Hotel Leisure Breaks in its 2019 brochure.

The holidays are aimed at mature holidaymakers who like to travel independently for short UK breaks.

Harold Burke, sales director, said: “We know we can provide customers with great-value breaks that include an evening dinner from the hotel’s menu as well as a cooked breakfast.

“Our prices start from just £99 for four nights, with dinner, bed and breakfast, and our competitive prices will help our agents compete with some of the direct-sell online brands.”

The newly released 2019 brochure also includes a host of new history-themed escorted tours.

Highlights include ‘Sights of the Solent’, which explores the Historic Naval Dockyards in Portsmouth and the National Museum of Royal Navy, plus Queen Victoria’s Isle of Wight retreat, Osborne House.

A new ‘Vintage England’ holiday based in Weston-super-Mare offers the chance to ride on vintage railways, such as the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam Railway, the West Somerset Heritage Railway & Seaton Tramway.

Railway enthusiasts are also catered for with the new ‘Trails & Rails through Hidden Wales’ tour, which features a trip on the Brecon Mountain Railway, while the ‘Viking York & Yorkshire Gold’ offers the chance to explore York’s Jorvik Centre, the National Railway Museum and York Chocolate Story.

Burke added: “We are all really excited at having more than 40 new tours featured in our latest brochure.

“We have never charged a supplement for a single-bedded room on our mainland UK holidays and our friendly tour managers are the heart and soul of our holidays, providing us with a unique edge in the market place.”
