Susie Blake is Miss Marple in Christie thriller premiere

Susie Blake is to play the character of Miss Marple in the first UK stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side, writes Angie Cronin.

Blake – who is most famous for her role as Hilary Nicholson in Mrs Brown’s Boys, Bev Unwin in Coronation Street and The Continuity Announcer in Victoria Wood – will be joined by Simon Shepherd as Scotland Yard inspector Dermot Craddock.

Shepherd is best known for playing the role of Dr Will Preston in the ITV series Peak Practice.

The Mirror Crack’d will be a European premiere, opening at Salisbury Playhouse on February 15 before touring to Dublin, Cambridge and Cardiff.

The Marple mystery from the world’s best-selling author of all time has been adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff (Flowers for Mrs Harris, Birdsong).
