The West Sussex town of Chichester is wooing visitors with a host of seasonal events in the run-up to Christmas.
Chichester Christmas Market returns to the city centre for its 10th year (December 8-16) featuring festive crafts, decorations, food and gifts.
As well as the Christmas market, the historic town boasts a host of shops, cafes and restaurants, including major brands and independent retailers. Shoppers can follow a special Christmas ‘Nutcracker Trail’ with lots of prizes to be won.
Elsewhere, Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre will run a series of ‘Discover Christmas’ days during December, while the National Trust property of Petworth House will be decorated in Georgian style for Christmas.
The Weald and Downland Museum will be decorated in styles from Tudor to the Victorian era, and it will hold craft sessions and a lantern procession.
Chichester Festival Theatre is presenting a Christmas concerts during December, and the South Downs Planetarium is running a series of festive events including ‘The Sky At Night This Christmas’ and ‘The Star of Bethlehem’.
Children can meet Santa himself at West Dean Gardens near Chichester and at The Novium Museum in Chichester.
