Visit Kent has launched a new viral campaign asking the people of Kent to send virtual ‘kisses’ to the rest of the UK.
Residents and businesses have been challenged to send #KissesFromKent around the world by taking selfies showing them and friends blowing kisses in their favourite Kent locations, and sharing them on Twitter along with a happy message.
The campaign launched on 22nd July and has already generated over 500 posts on social media, and has reached more than 850,000 people. Selfies can be taken alone or in a group in any Kent location.
Visit Kent chief executive Sandra Matthews-Marsh MBE said: “Quite simply, #KissesFromKent is all about sharing happy, positive messages about visiting our county, with friends, family or even strangers around the world.
“It is more important than ever to show the world what a wonderful and welcoming place the UK is, and the people of Kent are rising to the challenge.
“Kent is the third most popular inbound destination in the UK, outside of London, for good reason. We have some of England’s most famous landmarks, fantastic weather, gorgeous beaches, high speed rail links to London and the continent, and an incredibly large and diverse tourism offer.
“Anyone considering a staycation this year should certainly put Kent top of the list, as we really do have something to suit every taste and budget.”
It is hoped that the campaign will encourage more visits to the county this summer to coincide with the large number of festivals and events taking place, including the Whitstable Oyster Festival, Faversham Hop Festival and Broadstairs Folk Week.
Matthews-Marsh continued: “Kent is an incredible place to visit, and our message to the world is one of love, friendship and positivity.
“We hope #KissesFromKent will inspire you. And if you are visiting, please share your own #KissesFromKent with friends and family back home!”
