Tartu, Estonia’s second city, is European Capital of Culture 2024 with a packed programme of events throughout the year to celebrate the knowledge, skills and values that will help people live better in the future. Often called the spiritual and intellectual heart of Estonia, Tartu is a university town with a beating creative heart, a strong sense of heritage and a scientific bent – and the year’s events include nods to all three.

Getting to Tartu in 2024 is easy with Finnair’s twice daily flights, six days a week from Helsinki. This makes enjoying a long weekend or a mid-week break in the European Capital of Culture a tempting prospect with flights from Heathrow or Dublin dovetailing nicely with the 40 minute Helsinki/Tartu flight
