TV star Megan McCubbin partners with The Gambia Experience

The Gambia Experience is again offering excursions with wildlife presenter and photographer Megan McCubbin following the success of inaugural tours earlier this year.

The tours in January 2025 suit all levels of birdwatchers and offer the chance to explore the Gambia’s diverse birdlife alongside McCubbin and local expert Malick Suso.

The country is home to more than 600 bird species and is gaining recognition as a premier birding destination.

McCubbin’s love for the Gambia stems from her early childhood visits with stepfather Chris Packham, also a TV presenter and wildlife expert.

The three- and four-night expeditions will provide an insight into a lesser-known side of the country.

During this year’s bird tours, 154 different species were sighted in just three days.

The tours can be booked as an add-on to a holiday based at the family-run Bakotu Hotel.

Karen Durham, product manager for The Gambia Experience, said: “The Gambia offers fantastic opportunities for birdwatching and we’re thrilled to offer more hosted tours with Megan and Malick, promising wonderful insight.”

A seven-night package at Hotel Bakotu in a standard room including a three-night guided tour with McCubbin costs from £1,580, including flights and hotel transfers.
